HR and Safeguarding teams
Recently, the HR and Safeguarding teams have become aware of some feedback and concerns regarding the HR Parish Helpline and the Safeguarding Helpdesk as you’ve sought advice on various queries. Please do continue to feedback to the HR and Safeguarding teams on these services.
As a reminder of the key ways of contacting these teams and our commitments to you:
The Diocese of London is committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults to worship and grow in Christ safely.
This is done in a coordinated and supported manner and involves Church Safeguarding Officers (CSOs) and clergy at parish level responding to concerns in a timely manner, informing and taking advice from the Diocesan Safeguarding Team (DST) and seeking support from local authorities and the police when necessary.
Any concerns raised in parishes should be brought to the attention of the Church Safeguarding Officer, who can seek advice from the DST. Other areas of the Diocese (e.g. chaplaincies) should contact the DST directly. Any safeguarding allegations should be reported to the DST within 24 hours.
Safeguarding concerns can be raised by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively, to speak to a member of the DST, please call our Safeguarding Helpline on 020 7932 1224 (between 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday).
Out of hours advice can be sought from the Thirtyone:eight helpline on 0303 003 1111, selecting option 2. Thirtyone:eight is an independent charity which works in close partnership with the DST. Please note that the DST receives notification of any advice given by Thirtyone:eight.

Here you will find guidance notes and templates which cover most stages of the employee or volunteer life cycle (including employing and managing people, templates for essential documents, family friendly policies, guidance around employment status). Please feel free to use and adapt any of the notes or documents to suit your parish.
