By-election: clerical representative to General Synod

This election has now taken place, with the result that Revd Mark Murthen has been elected to the General Synod. Documents confirming his appoint are available below.

Owing to the resignation of a clerical representative for the Diocese on the General Synod, a by-election of one member of the House of Clergy of the General Synod is being conducted, and will be held on Thursday 10 May 2018.

The person elected will serve for the remainder of the current five-year term, until July 2020.

The General Synod is the national assembly of the Church of England, commonly referred to as the Church’s Parliament.

It considers and approves legislation affecting the whole of the Church of England, authorises new forms of worship, debates matters of religious and public interest, and approves the annual budget for the work of the Church at national level.

For more information about the election process, please contact Monica Bolley, Synodical Secretary or visit our General Synod By-Election pages.
