Chelsea Deanery CofE Primary Schools celebrate the Queen’s Birthday

Children from the Chelsea schools visit for the Queen's 90th birthday

Almost 100 children from the three Church of England Primary Schools in the Chelsea Deanery celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday with a unique visit to the Queen’s Chapel.

Year 5 children from Christ Church, Chelsea, Holy Trinity, Sloane Square and St. Cuthbert’s, Philbeach Gardens joined together for the first time for a special service at the Chapel which included a guided tour led by Canon Paul Wright, Sub-Dean to Her Majesty’s Chapels Royal. Following some activity work on flags in the grounds of the Commonwealth Secretariat at Marlborough House, the children watched the Changing of the Guard at St. James’s Palace.

The Revd Emma Smith and the Revd Paul Bagott who organized the event said:

“For some time we have wanted to build a stronger partnership between the Church of England schools in our deanery and the Queen’s 90th birthday seemed the perfect opportunity to make a start. The children made birthday cards for Her Majesty and the Sub-Dean promised to deliver them personally!”
