Local church leaders in Hackney have joined Sir Hector Sants and members of the Church Credit Champions Network (CCCN) in a mass sign-up of members to the London Community Credit Union in Hackney.
In response to the Archbishop of Canterbury’s intention to "compete Wonga out of business", training and resources are now available to churches across the Diocese of London, to create a network of ‘Credit Champions’. These lay-volunteers will be a strong link between their church and their local Credit Union, to support people in their parish who need to access financial services, and to help the local church to support its Credit Union. To facilitate initial discussions within the parish, a ‘Money Talk’ toolkit is also available.
