Calling London – one year on
It is now a year since we gathered at Church House for our Clergy Study Summit, Calling London.
With thanks to all our clergy and their renewed focus on nurturing and encouraging people in their calling we are seeing more people responding to a call to ordination. We had a very successful vocations event in the spring held for women, where despite the snow, we welcomed over 75 people to hear Bishop Sarah and others talk about their calling. Several vocations groups are now being run alongside the roadshows, clergy breakfasts and study days hosted by our Area Bishops.
This Autumn, 69 ordinands began training and over 70 attended Selection panels. We expect this number to be matched next year and we are delighted in the increase in the number of women and those from a BAME background among those starting training.
The London Calling website set up for the Study Summit contains lots of relevant and useful resources and ideas to help you continue with this very important work as well as the vocations section on the web site.
