Bishop of London joins St Peter’s CE Primary School to celebrate new building
The Bishop of London has joined pupils, staff and parents at St Peter’s CE Primary School in Westminster to bless their new school building.
As part of the day, pupils gave the Bishop a tour of the building before celebrating at a reception in the school hall attended by school alumni, past teachers and members of the community.
St Peter’s, which has recently been rated outstanding in several categories by Ofsted, is a multicultural school of 210 pupils where 39 different languages are spoken. The completion of the building is the culmination of a seven year journey to expand the space available to pupils at St Peter’s.
The new facilities include two new classrooms upstairs, a combined kitchen and boardroom, a group room and a pod room for the reception class which allows them space both inside and outside the building.
Some of the extra spaces will be used by community groups including the Marlborough Centre family outreach programme and for new community initiatives such as cultural cooking groups and a preschool rhyme time group.
Ms Sam Adcock, Head teacher of St Peter’s, said:
“Everyone at St Peter’s is thrilled to celebrate our new building with the Bishop. Pupils and staff are enjoying the extra space and our fantastic new facilities make a huge difference to the children’s learning.”
