Area Fundraising Workshops

We know that the financial situation of each parish differs, as do its needs.  The ability to raise funds to meet those needs is of the utmost importance. The aim of the Fundraising Workshops is to raise the level of fundraising knowledge in all parishes across the Diocese and help equip Clergy and PCC’s with the knowledge they need to be better at fundraising.

As part of this ongoing commitment to parishes, the @fundmychurch team has organised the 2018 Fundraising Workshop which will be presented in each of the episcopal areas.

Designed to provide handy hints and tips for anyone interested in fundraising (clergy or lay), presentations are included on:

  • GDPR
  • The Fundraising Regulator
  • Why every parish needs a fundraising strategy
  • Should legacies be part of your fundraising plan?

A special introduction to Churchgrants, a brand new searchable database of trusts and foundations that will specifically fund church projects, both capital and social programmes will be presented at the end of each of the workshops. Intended to be intuitive and optimised for church projects, it is free to search on Churchgrants, You can choose whether you want to buy the results -the price is based upon the number of results you receive.

All those attending one of the 2018 Fundraising Workshops will receive a voucher offering a 99% discount off the cost price of their results. However, if you can’t wait that long to try out this useful new resource, a 50% saving can be made by entering ‘MM-1’ (valid until 27 October 2018) when prompted for the offer code.

Refreshments will be available throughout the event and, in a change from previous workshops, time has been included for reflection and discussion after each presentation as a way of sharing good practice and great ideas.

There will also be the chance for parish representatives to meet with a member of the fundraising team prior to the 7pm start to discuss any specific fundraising issues being experienced.

Although events have already been held in Two Cities and Kensington, a final session of the 2018 Fundraising Workshop, for anyone within the Diocese of London, is being arranged for early 2019. Dates and locations for the remaining workshops are as follows:

Additionally if you have specific questions on fundraising that you would like to discuss, please email Carol Ward, Parish Fundraising Manager for the London Diocesan Fund. Further information about fundraising can be found here. You can also follow us on twitter (@fundmychurch).
