A by-election of one member of the House of Clergy of the General Synod was held on 20 June 2019.

Congratulations to the Revd Simon Morris who was duly elected.

This By-Election was carried out by a Re-count of the ballot papers from the By-Election held in 2018, owing to the fact that that had been a ‘full election’ (i.e. like a main election), which was held less than 2 years before the requirement for the by-election held yesterday. The Election count was conducted by the ERS (Electoral Reform Services).

Documents confirming Revd Simon’s appointment are available below.

The General Synod is the national assembly of the Church of England, commonly referred to as the Church’s Parliament. It considers and approves legislation affecting the whole of the Church of England, authorises new forms of worship, debates matters of religious and public interest, and approves the annual budget for the work of the Church at national level.
