Seeking Disclosure

Seeking Disclosure

The person when offered a post must themselves initiate the Disclosure procedure and send the application form, with original identity documents, to the Area Bishop's or Archdeacon's office for Countersignature (the Diocese, acting as an Umbrella Body on behalf of PCCs). The identity documents will be returned to the applicant, and the application forwarded to the CRB.

The Disclosure will be sent to the applicant and a copy to the Countersignatory at the Area Bishop's or Archdeacon's office. The person making the appointment will be informed of the outcome.

Only those who have a legitimate need to know within the recruitment process will be informed of the outcome.

An appeal procedure exists for applicants who feel that they have not been treated sensitively and fairly. Anyone wishing to appeal should write to the General Secretary, London Diocesan House, 36 Causton Street, London SW1P 4AU.
