If occupiers sublet parts of their houses they should enter into proper legal agreements with their tenants or lodgers.
Occupiers are required to hand over their houses with vacant possession when they leave and, therefore, they are strongly advised not to allow tenants or lodgers to occupy any part of their house and grounds without entering into legally binding agreements with them, which states that their occupation terminates on vacation of the post.
Income from letting arrangements should, of course, be reported to the Diocese
so that stipend levels can be adjusted, as necessary. The Diocesan staff are
always willing to advise further on this matter.
