Parsonage Houses - Repairs - Heating/Boiler Servicing

Heating/Boiler Servicing

If problems are encountered between annual services please contact the Department before ringing the contractors. Other plumbers or engineers should not be called in, except in extreme emergencies. Most houses are fitted with an electric immersion heater which should obviate the need for emergency call-outs.

Gas leaks should be dealt with at once either by the appropriate contractor or the Gas Board.

Each contractor has an out of hours emergency number, but it is only to be used in an extreme emergency which cannot wait until the office is open. Extreme emergencies are classed as a water leak that cannot be turned off or other events which threaten life or property.

It is essential that houses are adequately heated if left empty in the winter months. Water should be turned off at the mains during holiday periods at all times of the year and, if you are in any doubt, please contact the Department for advice. Any claims for water damage to the house or contents may not be accepted by the insurance company if this procedure is not followed.
