Decoration grant - this grant is normally considered at the time of appointment and the amount will be agreed with the Archdeacon of the Area and the staff of the Department as the initial meeting. All internal decorations are the responsibility of the occupier and the grant is meant to include major areas, such as hallways and staircases. The grant is paid direct to the occupier, on written application to the Department, together with receipts for expenditure already incurred or an estimate for work to be undertaken.
It is good practice for a room in the house to be decorated each year and, for parochial property, the PCC should discuss how it can properly assist in doing this. The Archdeacon can always give appropriate advice on this matter.
Study shelving - where not already provided, the policy is to fit 100 feet of shelving (of adjustable spur type) or make a grant of £300 for freestanding units which then become the property of the Benefice.
