The Area Dean should be informed if an incumbent is unable to carry out duties for more than one week because of illness, and the Area Dean should inform the Area Bishop and Archdeacon.
In the event of a prolonged absence owing to illness, the churchwardens, Area
Dean and Archdeacon should consult to ensure adequate pastoral care for a parish
and the Archdeacon should monitor the situation and agree a date for the incumbent's
resumption of duties.
