Items of Work

1. Works of routine maintenance on the fabric of the church (not materially altering its appearance), including scaffolding, up to £2,500 (excluding VAT, and excluding the cost of any scaffolding) provided that the Archdeacon is notified before the contract to carry out the work is entered into. This work includes, for example, replacement like for like of broken roof tiles or slates or clear window glass and cleaning gutters and downpipes but excludes repairs to broken or cracked quarries in clear glazed windows and tiled floors.
2. Works of routine maintenance of electrical fittings or other electrical equipment (by approved NICEIC electricians) and furniture up to a cost of £1000 excluding VAT. No addition of any new fitting to an existing electrical system is to be undertaken unless expressly authorised by the Archdeacon and the church's insurance company has been notified.
3. Work consisting of the monitoring of cracks in the fabric of the church provided it is carried out under the supervision of an architect or engineer.
