A priest is appointed in each Episcopal Area as the Bishop's Adviser on this aspect of the Church's healing ministry.
The Bishop's Adviser, who may be contacted through the Area Bishop's office, should always be consulted by clergy in any pastoral situations involving psychic phenomena. The majority of calls are likely to lead towards various types of pastoral help, and only rarely is exorcism involved.
When the Adviser believes exorcism is the appropriate response the Area Bishop
must be contacted before any ministry is undertaken. The name of the Adviser
must not be passed to enquirers. Each request must be treated absolutely confidentially
because of the danger of adverse and sensational publicity.
