The Bishop of Kensington has licensed the Reverend Stephen Caple as the new priest in charge of St Augustine Queens Gate. At the same service his wife, Sister Eileen Caple, of the Church Army, was licensed as Parish Evangelist. Fr Stephen was also licensed as the Bishop’s Officer for Evangelism.
The Deputy Mayor and the Deputy Lieutenant for the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea joined a full Church to welcome Stephen and Eileen. Stephen and Eileen were previously in ministry together in the parish of Salfords, near Gatwick, in the Diocese of Southwark.
The Bishop said to the congregation:
“Today’s society has a spiritual hunger and thirst unparalleled almost in any age. Go forward together to restore the Christian presence in this parish - to help people understand, interpret and answer this thirst”.
