The Diocese of London had reason to celebrate recently as its strong links with the Diocese of Angola continue to flourish. Since 1998, through the Angola, London and Mozambique Association (ALMA) the Diocese of London has played an active role in supporting the training of priests in Angola.

Last month this support came to fruition as seven priests and three deacons were ordained by the Bishop of Angola, the Rt Revd Andre Soares at St Joseph Arimateia in Mbanza Polo, Uige Province, northern Angola.

The Bishop of Kensington and chair of the Diocese’s ALMA Task Group, the Rt Revd Michael Colclough said:

“We have been forging excellent links for nearly ten years now with our partners in the Gospel in the dioceses of Angola, Lebombo and Niassa.

“I am delighted that the Diocese of London has played, and will continue to do so, an active role in the development and support of the new priests and deacons in the Angolan diocese.”
