Rejoicing with those who rejoice

Easter Sunday in Niassa in Mozambique saw celebrations with the opening and blessing of Messumba School, London's Lent Appeal project in 2008.

It is very special, as we draw to the close of the 2010 Diocesan Lent Appeal, to see the fruit of the 2008 Lent Appeal which will transform the lives of children up to lower grade secondary age, something long awaited by Messumba’s community.

Mourning with those who mourn

Padre Isaias Andrice died suddendly in his church in Beira on Good Friday and Archdeacon Artur Zinchaia of Nampula died on Saturday 28 March.

Padre Isaias spent most of June last year in London with his link parish St John Friern Barnet, where he had a full programme of visits, meeting and placements. Heimpressed everyone who met him with his wisdom and warmth. Fr Paul Walmsley-McLeod from Friern Barnet is travelling to Mozambique to attend the funeral.

Both of these church leaders were greatly loved and will be hugely missed. They leave widows and children. May they rest in peace and rise in glory. Niassa Diocese has, since August 2009, lost three other key people too: Oscar Hansine, Director of Evangelism, Padre Luciano, Priest of Cuamba and Goodwin Mynawa, Headteacher of Nacala School. Please uphold our partners in your prayers.
