A Christmas celebration in words and music
20/12/09
On Saturday 12 December the Bishop of London led a festive celebration service at St Pancras International.
The Bishop joined the station chaplain, the Revd Jonathan Barker in a service including Christmas readings and carols and a special performance by this year’s BBC Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year, Twyford CE High School.
50 members of the award-winning choir performed carols and Christmas songs during the service.
During the service there were charity collections in support of USPG: Anglicans in WorldMission and New Horizon Youth Centre - St Pancras International’s charity partner for 2009.
The Bishop of London, Dr Richard Chartres said:
"St Pancras is a crossroads of the world. I met travellers from almost every continent who stopped to listen to the Twyford Church of England School Gospel Choir and representatives from every part of the St Pancras team, telling the Christmas Story. Singing Silent Night in the bustle of arrivals and departures, against announcements to be aware of suspicious packages, brought to life the Christmas message of peace and goodwill".
