11/12/09

Bishop Pimen Llievski and HE Mrs Marija Efremova visited the Bishop of London earlier this week. They were joined by Fr Viktor Stojcev, who cares for the Macedonian Orthodox congregation of St Michael & All Angels that gathers at the Chapel of the House of St Barnabas in Soho.

Metropolitan Bishop Pimen Llievski cares for the Macedonian diaspora in Europe beyond Macedonia. In all the Macedonian Orthodox Church, in its seven home dioceses and beyond, has around 500 active priests and 20 monasteries with around 100 professed members.

HE Mrs Marija Efremova became Ambassador to the Court of St James in 2008. Since arriving in London, she has been supporting the Macedonian community and its Orthodox congregation in the UK.

Bishop Richard discussed the ascetical tradition and diaspora life with his guests, who were also shown the icons in St Paul's Cathedral.
