Vacancy in See Committee 2009 By-Elections

The Vacancy in See Committee meets when there is a vacancy in the See of London, i.e. should the post of Bishop of London become vacant. The Committee prepares a statement of the needs of the Diocese for consideration by the Crown Nominations Commission of the General Synod, and appoints a number of its members to represent the Diocese on the Commission.

By-Elections are due to take place for the Vacancy in See Committee:

1 vacancy – Stepney clergy
3 vacancies – Stepney laity
1 vacancy – Edmonton clergy
1 vacancy – Willesden clergy

The nomination periods for the By-Elections is Friday 15 January – Friday 5 February 2010.

Who can be elected?

For Clergy: Any cleric beneficed or licensed in, or licensed under Seal and connected to, each Area is eligible to stand for election.
For Laity: Any lay person who is an actual communicant as defined in Church Representation Rule 54(1) whose name is entered on the roll of any parish in a deanery in each Area is eligible to stand for election.
