Worshippers at Golders Green Parish Church were treated to a special service delivered by Archbishop Desmond Tutu on Sunday 8 November.

The Most Reverend Archbishop Emeritus of Cape Town, who was a curate at St Alban's Church in Golders Green in the 1960s, shared his warm and personal experiences of living and working in Golders Green and thanked those across London for their support in the struggle against Apartheid.

The Archbishop concluded his speech with a message about the need to combat climate change and challenged those in the audience to become 'world changers'. The final blessing was delivered in the Archbishop’s home language.

The Revd Rex Morton, Vicar at Golders Green Parish Church said:

"It was an amazing privilege and honour to welcome the Archbishop back to Golders Green - he was both funny and inspiring. I for one will never forget meeting him and hearing him speak on his time in London and the challenges facing the church today."

The full speech can be accessed at www.gg-pc.co.uk/index.php/church-life/sermons.
