Elections to the five Area Councils in the Diocese take place in 2009. Members of the churches in each Episcopal Area are invited to consider standing for election to their Area Council to take forward together our Christian life in each Area
The nomination periods are as follows:
| Two Cities Area Council (First tier) | 11 September - 5 October |
| Two Cities Area Council (Second tier) | 26 October - 16 November |
| Stepney, Kensington, Edmonton and Willesden | 25 September - 2 November |
The role of the Area Councils include providing support and advice to the Area Bishop on the mission, ministry and administration of the church in the Area; being responsible for carrying out certain duties relating to the Pastoral Measure, and taking financial responsibility for monies allocated to the Area.
