Vision/Division Art Exhibition in Harrow Weald

All Saints' Harrow Weald has hosted an exhibition embracing a wide variety of media, including painting, photography, design work and textiles, sculpture and installation pieces.

The Vision/Division exhibition of contemporary art was held in the church and grounds between 12 and 20 September.

The art explored the theme of hope engendered through vision and/or the reality and pain of division, both within the church and society. Forty-five local artists, including the sculptor Jane McAdam Freud, exhibited an eclectic and exciting variety of work. A local Harrow youth dance group contributed 'live' installations reflecting the opportunities and conflicts faced by young people in London.

The Vicar of All Saints’, James Mercer said:

"This is a new and cutting edge initiative for All Saints’ through which we hope to engage with local people and provoke discussion and conversation about real issues affecting our communities within Harrow and beyond".

Artist Victoria Nash said:

"To use a church as a venue for a contemporary art exhibition is an exciting adventure. The imagination of local and London artists has been caught by this opportunity to display art reflecting the exhibitions theme in the heart of the community".

Four hundred people attended the launch event opened by the Mayor of Harrow. During the exhibition circa eight hundred people visited the exhibition.
