Harrow has two new vicars this week, with the licensing of priests at St Peter’s Church in West Harrow and St John the Baptist Pinner.
The Revd William Van Der Hart, 32, the new Team Vicar of St Peter’s said:
"I am absolutely delighted to have been appointed to serve the people of St Peter's and the West Harrow Community. The church has given me and my wife, Louie, a fantastic welcome and we are really enjoying being part of such a vibrant family friendly church. It is also great to be joining the Roxeth Team ministry with Soul Survivor Harrow and Christ Church Roxeth. I believe that together we will continue to build a significant and meaningful Christian ministry in the Harrow area."
The Revd Paul Hullyer, 40, was licensed as the new Vicar of Pinner on Wednesday evening by the Bishop of Willesden, the Rt Revd Pete Broadbent. Paul, who was previously Vicar of All Saints in Hillingdon, can’t wait to get on with his new job at St John’s.
He said:
"I am very much looking forward to working with both those within, as well as those outside, the church in the years to come. There is much written or spoken at present about the demise of faith, let alone Anglicanism, and much of this is either unfounded, or is the fruit of a desire to place the transforming love of the Gospels low on the agenda of society, if actually there at all. My mission and ministry at Pinner is to show that the love of Jesus Christ is at the centre of all that we are and do."
Bishop Pete said:
"I’m pleased to welcome these two new priests to Harrow – they bring great skills and a real desire to grow the relationship between parish churches and their local communities."
