By-elections to Two Cities Area Council

By-Elections are due to take place to the Two Cities Area Council to fill one clerical and one lay vacancy on the Council. The period of nomination will be from Friday 12 September 2008 to Noon on Friday 3 October 2008.

Two Cities Area Council

The Area Council meets with the Bishop and Archdeacons and advises on matters of mission and ministry in the Episcopal Area. It is made up of ex-officio and elected members. The Council meets three times a year.

Eligibility of candidates

To be eligible to stand for election to the Area Council candidates must be:

For the Clerical Election

A Clerk in Holy Orders;
and
a member of a deanery synod in the Two Cities Episcopal Area.

For the Lay Election

An actual communicant having received communion according to the use of the Church of England or a Church in communion with the Church of England at least three times in the last twelve months;
and
confirmed, or ready and wanting to be confirmed, or receiving communion as a baptized communicant member in good standing of another Church which subscribes to the doctrine of the Holy Trinity under the provisions of Canon B 15A paragraph 1(b);
and
at least sixteen years of age;
and
entered on the electoral roll of a parish in the Two Cities Episcopal Area.

Term of office and information

The term of office for the person elected will be from November 2008 until November 2009.
