The River of Life

Rivers of prayer flowing from the font at St Paul's

Rivers of prayer flowing from the font at St Paul's

St Paul’s Cathedral was filled with people on 13 July celebrating the 10th anniversary of ALMA, the partnership between the Anglican Church in Angola, Lebombo, Mozambique and London.

The London bishops were joined by the three ALMA bishops: Bishop Andre of Angola, Bishop Dinis of Lebombo and Bishop Mark of Niassa.

The celebration embraced the visiting bishops for the Lambeth Conference, ambassadors, politicians and members of the other organisations, including MANNA, USPG, Tearfund and Christian Aid, who have links with Angola and Mozambique.

During the celebration, worshippers renewed their baptismal vows and heard stories and reflections on what it means to be partners in the Gospel. The ALMA Covenant was renewed for the next 10 years.

Music for the service was provided by the Twyford School Gospel Choir and the St John’s Friern Barnet drummers.

Bishop Dinis said the service engaged all the senses and all the ages: there were beautiful words for the mouth to say and pray, wondrous singing and drumming for the ears to hear, colourful rivers of prayer rippling along the Cathedral for the eyes to see.
