London Diocesan Cricket Club made their way into the quarter finals of the Church Times Cup competition after wins against Southwark Diocese and St Albans Diocese.

London played Southwark on 9th June looking to revenge their defeat to Southwark in the competition last year. London fielded first.

Southwark made a good start and looked to be progressing towards a good total before a sharp piece of fielding from Jones broke the opening partnership running out Stanier for 49. London continued to persist in the field and limited Southwark to a total of 145 off the 40overs, Aaggard carried his bat for 38.

London batted well and knocked off the runs in 27.2overs, Moray Thomas top scoring with 52, and Barnes making 39no. London won by 7 wickets.

On 16th June London played St Albans Diocese. London lost the toss and were put into bat. After the early loss of Suddell London went on to amass a solid total of 258 of 40overs. Gandon top scored with 89, with Barnes thumping a quick 84 and Moffatt making 40. St Albans openers started quickly, MacLeod and Gibbs reading 96 off 18overs before a fine throw from Barnes ran out Gibbs for 18. MacLeod continued to bat well eventually making 87 but he didn’t have the support from the other St Albans batters who quickly collapsed to 129 all out, Paul Foster taking 4 for 17.

London go through now to the quarter final to play Birmingham Diocese on 23rd June.
