St Mary Stoke Newington

Fairtrade/Trade Justice in North London

Various churches came together to run a Fairtrade Stall at StokeFest in Clissold Park, Stoke Newington in June 2007... we made about £300 on the day. Volunteers came from St Mary, Stoke Newington, St John's Brownswood Park, St Thomas More (Roman Catholic), Stoke Newington Baptist Church and St Augustine's Highbury.

Some of us from these and other churches - Christ Church, Highbury, St Jude's Mildmay Grove, Stoke Newington Quakers and St Mark's, Tollington Park - have also created an informal network, where we meet to share a 'fairtrade' meal and good practice/ideas on promoting Fairtrade and Trade Justice in our congregations and communities. Other things we've been involved with include organising a Fairtrade Breakfast for local business owners with George Alagiah in Stoke Newington and running a stall at the local farmers' market.
