| 5c. | Achieve Fair Trade status |
The City of London was awarded Fairtrade Status on 22nd October 2007. This was achieved after a fast-paced campaign run by the City Fairtrade Steering Group, which includes representatives from Waitrose, Aviva, KPMG, the Barbican Centre, Avenance, Overbury and others. The Group is chaired by the Rector of St Mary-le-Bow and the City's Fairtrade Campaign was triggered by a letter from JustShare to the Corporation of London inviting the Corporation to adopt a Fairtrade Policy.
Harriet Lamb, Executive Director of the Fairtrade Foundation, spoke at the celebration event held in the Barbican in December 2007. The Rector of St Mary-le-Bow will continue to chair the City's Fairtrade Steering Group as it seeks to build on its Fairtrade Status to encourage more City institutions to use Fairtrade products.
