| 5c. | Achieve Fair Trade status |
250 cups of Fairtrade tea and coffee and more than 800 leaflets were distributed to passers-by at St Paul's Cathedral on Friday 11th July for the launch event of the Traidcraft-sponsored 'Big Brew.'
The aim of the Big Brew was to promote Fairtrade and to emphasise the role of churches in encouraging others to buy fairly traded products. 70 churches across London diocese opened as Fairtrade cafes on Saturday 12th July, serving tea, coffee, fairtrade biscuits and a host of other goodies and entertainments to their local communities. The event played an important part in the diocese's campaign to achieve Fairtrade Diocese status.
The Bishop of London launched the Big Brew initiative on Friday 11th at St Paul's. As the Bishop said 'The Big Brew is about bringing Fairtrade products to local communities across London, whilst fulfilling our commitment as a Church to fighting global poverty.'
