Lay Assistant, St Paul's Church, Finchley

ST. PAUL’S CHURCH, FINCHLEY

St Paul's is an evangelical Anglican church in north London with an exciting vision, at the heart of which is a desire for spiritual renewal and numerical growth, and a recently completed major building project.

Due to the present post-holder’s move to ordination training, we are seeking to recruit a full-time lay assistant to work as part of our staff team from September 2008.

This well-established post is, in the first instance, a one-year appointment, with accommodation, and intended to:

• provide ministry assistance (including practical tasks)to the church in
general and the vicar in particular; and
• give experience in parish life to someone who is considering
ordained, licensed or other paid Christian ministry as their future.

The post-holder will be encouraged to participate in the Monday Theology (morning) course at the St Paul’s Theological Centre(www.htb.org.uk/sptc/).

We are looking for someone who:

• is passionate about their faith,
• is eager to serve God and his Church,
• wants to gain an inside view of the opportunities and challenges of
church leadership,
• appreciates the need for the church to engage with the missionary
challenge of being ‘good news’ in a context of increasingly
marginalisation, and
• has a sense of calling to the post

Hours of work A maximum of 45 hours a week (including Sundays and some
evenings) based in a designated office in the
excellent working environment of our new annexe.
Renumeration A living allowance equivalent to £5,200 a year (£100 per
week) plus expenses.
Holidays 20 days plus Bank Holidays. The post-holder will also
be entitled to one weekend (all day Saturday and
Sunday) off in every four months.

For further details and an information pack, contact:

Revd Nicholas Pye: t. 020 8346 8729 e.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Wednesday 14th May 2008 and the interview process will be conducted on Saturday 31st May and Sunday 1st June. The post is subject to enhanced disclosure from the CRB.

St Paul's seeks to be an all-age and multicultural community of Christians committed to worshipping God, loving our neighbour, and enabling people to become life-long followers of Jesus Christ.
