The Diocese of London covers 277 square miles of Greater London north of the Thames from Staines in the west to the Isle of Dogs in the east and as far north as Enfield. It comprises the cities of London and Westminster and the London boroughs of Hillingdon, Hounslow, Richmond upon Thames, Ealing, Harrow, Brent, Barnet, Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, Camden, Islington, Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Haringey and Enfield.
There are over 500 worshipping communities, a thousand clergy and ministers and 200 people currently in training for the ordained ministry. Many parishes in the Diocese are classified as 'deprived' Urban Priority Areas.
The Church of England in London runs thousands of groups working with children and young people, refugees and asylum seekers, the homeless and runaways, the unemployed and the lonely, families and the elderly, people with physical and mental disabilities, addictions and debt management problems, ex-offenders and prisoners. We are committed to environmental issues, fair trade and making London a better place for ethnic minorities.
The Church of England is growing in the Diocese of London. Electoral rolls show that church membership in the Diocese has increased dramatically - from 45,000 in 1990 to 70,000 in 2009.
There are 149 Church of England schools in the Diocese with over 50,000 pupils.
