The Purcell School for Young Musicians continues to produce some of the UK's finest young musicians. The orchestra and choirs of the school will perform Faure's Requiem,(original 1893 version), Flos Campi and Gloria.
Three sumptuous and exquisite works for voices and instruments will be enhanced by the glowing acoustic of St John’s, Smith Square. The distinguished violist and former Head of Strings at The Purcell School, Ian Jewel, will be the soloist in a rare opportunity to hear Vaughan Williams’ highly individual work Flos Campi, which was inspired by verses from the Song of Solomon. Winnie Soutter, one-time member of Scottish Opera, will sing the substantial soprano part in Poulenc’s Gloria. The combined orchestra and choirs of The Purcell School will perform Faure’s Requiem.
