Most work on a church building, be it a repair or alteration, internal or external, will need the authority of the Consistory Court given by the Chancellor. This is called a Faculty.
The process of obtaining a Faculty is administered by the Diocesan Registry (which can advise on legal aspects) and supported by the Diocesan Advisory Committee for the Care of Churches (DAC). The DAC can provide advice on most aspects of maintaining, developing and repairing your church building and churchyard.
