Continuing Ministerial Development, CME, or Clergy Support and Development, is promoted by the Diocesan Director of Professional Development, the Revd . Provision is made at Area, Diocesan and National level, and many agencies are involved in offering opportunities for clergy to develop their ministry. (Training of the laity is just as important and just some of the many opportunities can be seen on the Events pages or by contacting the Area Director of Development and Training.)
Post Ordination Training, POT, covers the first three years after an ordinand is made a Deacon. In other dioceses it usually lasts for four years and is sometimes called CME 1-4 (Continuing Ministerial Education), or IME 4-7 (Initial Ministerial Education). You can find out more about this in the Joint Handbook under the POT heading here.
Ministerial Review is practised throughout the Diocese and is administered by the Area Bishop and his Area Director of Training and Development. Each Area follows this through in slightly different ways, but you can find the relevant documents for Willesden, for example, under the Ministerial Development Review heading here.
The following pages are for Diocesan clergy, Readers and other ministers who wish to see what opportunities there are for professional development. Not all events are open to everybody, but the details of each event will specify for whom it is intended.
