How should churches handle money - theologically and literally? This study day seeks to equip clergy with the tools to preach and teach effectively about money, as well as offer practical suggestions for fundraising and stewardship. An objective of the day is to offer ways to integrate theology and practice, including in liturgy. The training day is a partnership between St Paul’s Institute and the Diocese of London’s Continuing Ministerial Education programme.

Why is money so important that Jesus taught about it more than any other moral issue? This opening session explores attitudes and key teachings on money in the Bible.

How has the theology of money changed from Biblical times to now? This session explores the interaction of theology and economics throughout history and considers what the church saying about money now. Can the church have a prophetic voice in the world about money?

Money plays a part in most acts of Christian worship. This session explores how to affirm giving and economic life in liturgy and preaching, and include practical suggestions.

All clergy have to face issues of stewardship, and most at some point in their ministry have to undertake fundraising for major projects. This session offers practical guidance for raising significant sums for restoration appeals and special projects, as well as increasing regular giving.
