In the Ordinal this question is asked of Bishops, Priests and Deacons:
"Will you be diligent in prayer, in reading Holy Scripture, and in all studies that will deepen your faith and fit you to bear witness to the truth of the Gospel?"
The huge variety of courses available in London can help us to affirm this vow through practical action.
The Church of England has long since recognised the centrality of life long learning, support and development in the lives and ministry of its clergy, Readers and other ministers. In the Diocese of London, the Diocesan CME Policy makes it clear that clergy should feel both affirmed in their ministry and be accountable to their Bishop and colleagues for their development.
